Kellett v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP
At trial, the Barnes Law Group's clients won a $10 million judgment against PricewaterhouseCoopers, finding that the accounting firm's audit opinions misrepresented the true value of a merger to the plaintiffs of a merger agreement between two large nursing home companies. The verdict followed a month-long trial of claims by four family trusts established by Cobb business entrepreneurs. After successfully defending the verdict on appeal, the Barnes Law Group obtained full payment of the judgment that, with interest, exceeded $12 million.
Peterson et al vs. Sprock et al.
At trial, the Barnes Law Group successfully defended the founder of Atlanta-based restaurant franchisor Raving Brands, Martin Sprock, in a lawsuit alleging fraud, breach of contract and racketeering, among other claims, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
This case concerned Mama Fu's Asian House, a restaurant franchise formerly owned by Atlanta-based Raving Brands. A group of ten franchisees alleged Raving Brands provided false information on the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular for its Mama Fu's concept. Claiming losses of $8 Million, the plaintiffs sought to have these amounts trebled for a total claim approaching $24 Million. After a two-week trial, the Court ruled in favor of our client on all claims.
